Vizio is one of the brands we are called about most in the Richmond area, and most of them are worth fixing. The usual suspects are the backlight, the main board and the T-Con board — all repairable. Boards are replaced in your home; a backlight job is the one exception — it cannot be done in a living room, so we take the set with us and bring it back when it is done.

What usually fails on a Vizio

Backlight failure (sound but no picture, or a very dark picture), main board faults (no response, stuck logo, apps and inputs misbehaving) and T-Con board problems (picture artifacts) make up most Vizio calls. Board work is done on the spot; a backlight replacement means the set goes with us and comes back finished. The panel itself is the one part we treat case by case: sometimes it can be brought back at component level, sometimes it is not worth it, and we tell you which on the spot.

What we will tell you straight

We do not diagnose over the phone. Two customers describe the same fault in completely different words, and a picture problem can come from any of several boards or from a loose cable. The only honest answer comes from opening the set. The two things we can rule out on the phone are physical damage and water damage; those we do not repair.

On a small Vizio we will tell you plainly that the diagnostic alone costs about what a new one does, and if the model is a known problem we will say we would not recommend it. The decision stays yours: plenty of people keep a TV for reasons that have nothing to do with price, and then we repair it and do it properly.

Older Vizios are often worth more than they look: the build quality was better, and a repaired older set tends to keep going for years.

Parts and timing

We buy genuine parts from the manufacturer or its authorized distributors. Most Vizio boards arrive in 3–5 days, occasionally longer for older models. You get the exact price and the exact wait after the diagnostic, and nothing is ordered until you say go.

How a visit works

There is a service call fee for the in-home diagnostic — we quote it on the phone, before we come out, and it goes toward the repair. After the diagnostic you get a firm price. Repairs carry a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.
