There are fewer of them every year, because almost everyone has moved to LCD, LED or OLED, but the people who like these sets want them kept running, and we keep them running. Is an old DLP still worth fixing?

That is your decision. Any set is worth repairing if the repair price works for you, and you get that price after the diagnostic, not before.

Do you work on Mitsubishi LCD and LED sets too?

Yes. Those are ordinary repairs: boards, power supplies, T-Con boards and connectors, all done in your home.

What a visit looks like

We come to you, so there is nothing to unplug and nothing to carry. A technician diagnoses the problem in your home and gives you a repair estimate. There is a service call and diagnostic fee for your area, and we tell you the amount on the phone before we come out. It is non-refundable, and if you go ahead with the repair it counts toward what you pay for it. Backlight replacement is the one job that cannot be done in a living room. We take the set with us and bring it back when it is finished.

Whether to repair it is your call

Any TV is worth repairing if the repair price works for you, and that price comes after the diagnostic. If the model is a known problem, we will say that we would not recommend it. On a small set we will tell you plainly that the diagnostic alone costs about what a new one does. But some people are used to their TV, or it means something to them. Then we repair it and do it properly.

Parts, timing and warranty

Genuine parts from the manufacturer or its authorized distributors. Most arrive in 3–5 days, and once in a while we already have the part on hand. Some boards go on backorder. When that happens we say so at once, with an estimated arrival date if the part can be had at all. Nothing is ordered until you say go. Repairs carry a 90-day warranty on parts and labor. Physical damage and water damage we do not repair, and those two we can rule out on the phone.
